Hugh Clawson


Born in Belfast in 1959, Hugh was an upholsterer for 18 years.  He maintained an interest in art from a young age and decided to make it more than a hobby and became a full time artist about 10 years ago.
He is completely self taught and works in all mediums although his preference is 3 dimensional images, he also sculptures in bronze.
He was commissioned in 2001 to model a bronze sculpture for Robin Island, the holding place of Nelson Mandella.
His first one-man show was held in Belfast's 'John Hewitt' bar in 2003.
His works have also been accepted into Ionta's Small Works Show and more recently in the annual RUA Exhibition.
